Life Sciences in society 2011
Over the last forty years, biology has undergone a revolution in terms of knowledge production: the emergence of biotechnology, the intertwining of basic academic knowledge and commercial applications, the structuring of research efforts into major genome sequencing programs and the wide availability of tools and instruments for industrial-scale, high-throughput biology.
The objective of the second Genopole®-IFRIS Colloquium is to analyze the effects of this revolution from three main standpoints: (i) relationships between research, industry and markets; (ii) research facilities and research work and (iii) epistemological aspects. What do these changes mean in terms of co-production by science and society (a common theme that runs through this series of colloquia)?
Proteomics 2011 and Beyond
Proteomics is one of the major frontiers to obtain a full understanding of biology and medicine.
Proteomics embraces a huge field and includes not only questions on protein identification, but on post-translational modifications related to localization, interaction with RNA, DNA, other proteins and small molecules.
The proteomics field is at the heart of systems biology and at the interface of biology with chemistry and physics. Novel techniques in proteomics have given unforeseen insight into the details of molecular mechanisms of signal transduction and gene regulation.
Symposium Bioproduction 2010
On December 14, 2010, Genopole® will hold the third edition of its Biomanufacturing Symposium, entitled “30 years of therapeutic product biomanufacturing: outcomes and outlook”.
Following the success of the two previous editions of the Biomanufacturing Symposium, Genopole® will broaden its outlook and ask the following question: which expression systems, compounds, technologies, drug targets and business models will be critically important in biomanufacturing in the future?
