- The Ministry of Research launches, within the framework of the Genomics program Génoplante, a federating program of plant genomics associating public and private partners equally and piloted from Evry.
- Creation of GenOdyssee, the first company to be “hatched” inincubated by Genopole®.
- Launching of Généthon III, a gene therapy research program.
- First on-site visit to Genopole® by Lionel Jospin, Prime Minister, accompanied by Claude Allegre, Minister of National Education, Research and Technology, and Christian Sautter, Minister of the Economy and Finance.
- Five groups from CEA (Atomic Energy Commission), Inserm (National Health and Medical Research Institute), Inra (National Agronomic Research Institute) and Université de Paris VII academic research laboratories and five additional companies are set up on the Genopole® campus in Evry.
