The Genopole® Enterprises team is made up of experienced project managers with complementary skills and backgrounds, covering the full range of “hands-on” activities in business start-up and development.
From the birth of the idea in the lab through to market validation, Genopole® delivers scientific, managerial, material and financial assistance to budding and confirmed entrepreneurs, in close collaboration with other start-up support organizations and the venture capital and financial communities.
Business incubation
From day one on, an entrepreneur can receive business plan assistance from a Genopole® Enterprise project manager. Even though the entrepreneur remains fully responsible for and in control of his/her project, Genopole® can provide a range of support services: funding for preliminary scientific, economic or financial feasibility studies, business plan drafting assistance prior to examination by the Genopole® Expert Committee, advice on building the future management team and many other forms of logistic, technical and legal support.
The project is then examined by the Expert Committee (made up of independent scientists and businesspeople) who advise Genopole® on the business plan’s scientific, technical and economic aspects. Once the project has been validated, the start-up is awarded Genopole® accreditation - its passport for obtaining the full set of services provided by Genopole® and its network of partners.
The companies incubated by Genopole® can move into the Genopole® Enterprises incubator (managed in collaboration with the Essonne Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIE). With 2,600 m2 in floor space, the incubator is ISO 9001 v2000 certified and provides companies with equipped office & lab modules and shared-access services on an ad hoc basis.
For its first round of equity funding, the start-up can apply to the “G1J Ile-de-France” seed fund, which can also help the company seek funding in subsequent rounds.
In 13 years, Genopole® has hosted or incubated around a hundred companies (including 73 biotech companies in its portfolio as of Dec 31st 2011). A true success in value creation!
