Evry-Corbeil: strong assets
Evry: a new, changing city
The Evry urban area is home to over 70,000 inhabitants and has excellent transportation infrastructure, putting it within easy reach of Paris (the A6 and Francilienne freeways and the Courcouronnes and Bras de Fer RER light railroad stations put Evry just 40 minutes away from the heart of Paris) and Paris Orly and Paris Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airports (15 and 70 km away, respectively).
Evry’s assets include a young population, a vibrant business community, a university, engineering schools, the corporate headquarters of a number of multinationals (Accor and Carrefour, for example), the presence of the European space research center (Arianespace), the SNECMA engineering group, a convention center and much more.
The goal of the Clinical and Translational Research Center (interfaced with the Southern Ile-de-France Medical Center (Centre Hospitalier Sud Francilien, CHSF)) will be to rapidly translate research results into innovative medical treatments, i.e. going from the bench to the bedside.
The CHSF is located on a 10-hectare plot at the border between the Corbeil-Essonnes and Evry municipalities and will feature 37 wards, 20 operating theaters and 130 consultation rooms.
The city of Evry also includes the Agora National Theater, the French National School of Music and Dance, a golf course, many hotels and France’s most recently built cathedral (designed by the Swiss architect Mario Botta).
Evry is experiencing new dynamism that has improved the city’s image over recent years. It hosts a lively and varied selection of sporting, cultural & voluntary activities, the Paris region’s busiest shopping mall, landscaped parks and green spaces on the banks of the river Seine - all of which make Evry a very pleasant city to live in!

Corbeil-Essonnes, a lively town
As Evry’s neighboring municipality, Corbeil-Essonnes benefits from the same high-quality road infrastructure. It also offers high-performance rail transportation, an excellent bus network and bustling commercial activity, with several new and renovated shopping malls.

The Seine Essonne Urban Area (to which Corbeil-Essonnes belongs) offers a diverse selection of activities, sports facilities and cultural events.
With golf courses at Etiolles and Coudray-Montceaux, a range of riverside sports clubs (notably tennis clubs) on the banks of the Seine in Corbeil and Soisy sur Seine, the Corbeil-Essonnes Theater and a spacious Media Library, this town has become as modern as it is friendly.
The town of Corbeil-Essonnes cultivates its lively, energetic image - notably thanks to a well-renowned Trade Fair and a jazz festival which has become a key part of the Paris region music scene. The success of the town’s urban regeneration program (which has just culminated with reconstruction of the town’s marketplace and Market Hall) means that Corbeil-Essonnes has entered the 21st century with confidence.

The Essonne - a dynamic county
The Essonne county was created in the south of the Paris Ile-de-France region in 1964 and accounts for 15% of the region’s area and 10% of its population. Its economy is particularly dynamic, with an unemployment rate of only 5.4%. At the heart of Europe’s leading business cluster, the Essonne county’s activity is strongly service-oriented (mainly wholesale & retail trade and construction).
The Essonne’s public-sector research resources (accounting for a quarter of the Paris Ile-de-France region’s activity, i.e. fully 10% of France’s R&D infrastructure) are located mainly in the north of the county, around the University of Paris-Sud in Orsay, the University of Evry-Val d’Essonne and a number of elite engineering schools and research institutes in the Saclay and Palaiseau areas (the Ecole Polytechnique in Palaiseau, SUPELEC and the National Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology in Gif-sur-Yvette, the National Agrifood Industry College in Massy, the School of Optics/Optics Institute in Orsay and the Institute for Higher Scientific Studies in Bures-sur-Yvette).
The Essonne county has four major scientific clusters (Genopole® in Evry-Corbeil, Optics Valley in Palaiseau, Soleil in Orsay and Scientipole in Saclay) and participates in two world-class regional clusters (Medicen Paris Region and System@tic Paris Region).

Paris Ile-de-France, the most competitive region in Europe

Three quarters of the region is made up of parks, woodland, forests and countryside. Local authorities are committed to implementing measures for controlling urban development, reducing air and noise pollution and protecting the natural heritage.
