The University of Évry Val d’Essonne (UEVE) was founded in 1991 at the heart of the city of Évry as part of the development of higher learning in the Ile-de-France administrative region. It is a multidisciplinary university emphasizing career-oriented teaching in coherence with its immediate economic and social environment.

UEVE offers its approximately 10,000-strong student body more than 160 academic curricula, more than half of which are career-specific, in such fields as science, technology, law, economy & management, and social sciences. In close collaboration with Genopole, the university is also an important center of research, particularly in genomics and post-genomics applied to healthcare and the environment.
