WHEN HOPE AND CONCRETE ACTIONS COME INTO PLAY
This year marked the 30th anniversary of the Telethon. Once again, the annual event was a display of solidarity, with pledges reaching € 80,319,113. One month before the televised event, the AFM-Telethon announced the creation of YposKesi, the first French industrial pharmaceutical company dedicated to producing gene and cell therapy drugs for rare diseases. 30th anniversary of the Telethon

YOUNG BIOTECH AWARD 2016


What an exciting way to end the year with the final of the Young Biotech Award organized by Genopole on 13th December. The five companies still in the race pitched their project in front of a jury composed of venture capitalists, industrials, entrepreneurs, banks and Genopole. The jury unanimously picked Biostart as the winner of this year’s edition, for the great application of their technology to decontaminate waste water.

ENTREPRENEUR IS A FRENCH WORD

The Biotech Sector At Its Best


France Biotech, the association of French companies and partners in the Life Sciences sector, recently presented its 2016 Panorama study on life sciences in France.
On this occasion, France Biotech also awarded its Trophées de l’entrepreneur santé 2016 whose vocation is to reward business managers in the health sector who have carried out major advances in their clinical or financial development over the year.
The Trophée de l’Entrepreneur en Santé Femme was awarded to Cécile Réal, Cofounder and President of Endodiag, a Genopole company dedicated to the development of new solutions to improve the diagnosis of endometriosis.

  Synthetic Biology : From ideas to market

On the Road to Synthetic Biology


Early December, Genopole held its very first meeting on the economics of synthetic biology in the presence of Thierry Mandon, Minister of State for Higher Education and Research.
The event was structured around two main themes - the initial steps in the industrialisation of synthetic biology and the economics involved on a wider scale.
With a great turnout of 95 participants, the day began with an inauguration speech given by Pierre Tambourin, the CEO of Genopole, who underlined the importance of synthetic biology on a national scale.

Genopole was present at Medica, the world's leading trade fair for the medical industry.
In the imposing Düsseldorf “Messe” a massive number of medical companies were visible throughout 5 forums, 5 conferences, over 5,000 exhibitors from more than 70 countries and 7 main product categories in 17 halls! 7 is a lucky number after all…
Always on the lookout for innovative subjects, Genopole found interesting firms which would fit and could be part of the Genopole ecosystem.

BIOFIT 2016 - Lille
Biofit:

In the same way, Genopole was present at Lille for BioFIT, the leading partnering event in Europe for tech transfer and academia-industry collaborations.
The conference is also key for sourcing early-stage innovations stemming from academia, startups and SMEs of the life sciences field.
Thanks to numerous partnering meetings, Genopole companies were able to find collaboration opportunities and to promote our biocluster on a global level thanks to meetings with other bioclusters and universities from Japan, Russia, Belgium and the US, to name a few.
