ISTEM is the largest French research and development institute dedicated to human pluripotent stem cells, of embryonic origin or obtained by genome reprogramming. ISTEM is part of the Biotherapy Institute for Rare Diseases, funded directly by the AFM-telethon.
Mission description
In the context of an ATIGE (Genopole Thematic Incentive Actions) funding, ISTEM recruits a postdoctoral fellow as part of a research program entitled « From the biology of melanocytes to the development of innovative biotherapies for the treatment of skin pigmentation disorders by using human pluripotent stem cells« .
Our aim is to develop novel therapeutic approaches for patients with vitiligo, a disease that causes progressive skin depigmentation.
Your role in the Genodermatoses team and under the supervision of the project leader will be to use the unique properties of human pluripotent stem cells to generate and study melanocyte stem cells involved in the repigmentation process observed in patients with vitiligo.
In addition, you will be a part of the development of a dual strategy, which includes a pharmacological drug approach and a cell therapy approach based on human pluripotent stem cells for patients with vitiligo.
Qualifications
- The candidate should have a PhD in biology, health sciences or a related field.
- Skills required in cell culture (primary cells and/or stem cells) and molecular biology.
- Skin expertise is highly recommended.
- We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate.
- Written and oral English communication skills are required.
